Golden Zebras have a rare gene that makes them "Golden". The gene is called "Leucism". The most popular golden zebra is called "Zoe". She has been the inspiration for many cartoons like Lion Gaurd. Just like how she was studied/researched very well, I think it would be great if human rare health conditions are taken more seriously.
ART4RARE "11 - 15 years" category - Joint-Awardee: Svetlana Thoppay
My name is Svetlana Thoppay and I am a 14 year old freshmen. I am not necessarily an artist, but given some time, I can whip up something with an idea, color pencils, and paper. I love to play music and watch tv in my free time. This artwork is made with a multitude of rare events and living organisms. As I was making this artwork, I could not decide what I wanted to draw. There are so many rare things in life. The first drawing is a picture of the northern lights. The picture next to the northern lights, is a Vaquita, a porpoise. Next to the Vaquita is an Amur Leopard, a critically endangered animal. Next to that is the Sumatran elephant which is a critically endangered animal as well. Under the elephant is a lunar eclipse which is a rare astronomical event that happens every 2.5 years. To the left of that is the Asian unicorn, Saola. Next to the Saola is an underwater creature, the axolotl. This creature is native to mexico like the Vaquita and is similarly losing numbers to its population. Last but not least, next to the axolotl are the rainbow eucalyptus trees. These trees are native to Hawaii, and believe it or not they are real. I named this piece sunrise to sunset, because while i was creating this I added many gradients in the background to show the sky at different times. For example the sun rise in the picture of the vaquita, and sunset in the picture of the sumatran elephant.
